To add on to the reptile fact:
This is mainly cause the easiest source of good to get them (for lizards mainly-) is mealworms.
THEY DO NOT GIVE MUCH PROTEIN
My lizard that passed recently suffered from bad MBD because of how little protein these guys gave (I had him when I was in elementary, so he lived wayyyyyy past the life expectancy). Once I found that out, I turned to Dubia Roaches (which I highly suggest, please don't make the stupid mistake I did, plus they're super easy to care for and have breed), he became super active and got excited whenever it was feeding time. He also loved his hornworms and spaghetti squash.
With snakes, I've only really had my baby kingsnake that suddenly died on me (from unknown causes, no one could figure out what happened). When we first got her, we asked how many times should we take her out, and they said "oh, no snakes don't like being held", which was a huge lie. Jet adored people, and loved being held. She would sleep in the sleeves of my jacket or just in my hand sometimes. From my experience with snakes, they should be taken out and held, they love the attention (as did my bf's snake ((i stg this doesn't mean anything bad-)) whenever I came over).
With that being said..
PLEASE DO PROPER RESEARCH ON A PET, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S A PET YOU'VE NEVER HAD BEFORE
If your pet looks off, or is acting off, please be responsible, and take it to a trustworthy vet (there are vets/people out there that only do it for the money, please be careful to who you visit).
